Burke County United Way Welcomes Resource Development Director

MORGANTON, NC – Burke County United Way (BCUW) is thrilled to announce the addition of Jennifer Bingham Hampton as the new Director of Resource Development. A Burke County native, Jennifer joined the organization in November 2024, bringing with her a wealth of experience, a commitment to community, and a deep-rooted passion for strengthening families.

Jennifer has spent over 12 years in the nonprofit sector, honing her skills in resource development, community engagement, and leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Divinity from Duke University. As an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church, Jennifer’s career has been grounded in service and a steadfast belief in the power of community.

Prior to joining BCUW, Jennifer served as the Director of Camp Tekoa Foothills, where she combined her expertise in nonprofit management with her love of the outdoors. Her certifications include a paraprofessional license in Non-Profit Business Management, Camp and Retreat Ministries through the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM).

Jennifer’s return to her hometown is driven by her commitment to making a meaningful impact locally. As Director of Resource Development, she will focus on building and nurturing relationships with donors, businesses, and community stakeholders to support BCUW’s mission. Jennifer will be developing donor-centric fundraising strategies, leading workplace campaigns, and creating personalized stewardship plans. Her approach is tailored to cultivate long-term relationships and achieve sustainable growth in fundraising efforts.

“Jennifer’s background in nonprofit management, coupled with her heartfelt dedication to supporting families and communities, makes her an invaluable addition to our team,” said Maureen “Mo” Schwind, Executive Director at Burke County United Way. “Jennifer will be instrumental in driving forward our mission to create lasting change in Burke County.”

When not advancing the mission of BCUW, Jennifer is a devoted mother who spends her free time juggling the joys of parenting two active boys. Although her hobbies once included avid reading and exploring the outdoors, she now humorously admits to being more focused on laundry, Lego pick-up duty, and running after her sons.

Jennifer looks forward to connecting with the Burke County community and building on the impactful work of Burke County United Way.
