DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION

Burke County United Way’s D.E.I. STATEMENT

Burke County United Way understands that each individual has inherent traits and characteristics that provide strength to our community through diversity and inclusion. We envision a community where all Burke County individuals and families are equipped to live independently and thrive. This vision becomes reality by recognizing that discrimination exists and that it has led to the marginalization of valuable members and groups within our community.

Marginalized community members face obstacles that make it difficult to succeed. We believe that the absolute strength of our community cannot be achieved until we eliminate the discrimination that led to the social and institutional barriers to success faced by marginalized communities.

Burke County United Way adamantly opposes all forms of discrimination and will lead with our values and beliefs that enable all community members to develop their potential and engage in a community of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Burke County United Way is committed to establishing, funding, and supporting programs that work within and with the community to eliminate social and institutional barriers to eradicating poverty while respecting and including all members of our diverse community.
