Chasity Poteat, Executive Director
Chasity Poteat joins Burke County United Way with 15 years of combined healthcare marketing and nonprofit fund development experience. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Marketing & Outreach for Burke Hospice & Palliative Care, Valdese, NC. Her background includes marketing and communications, community relations, fundraising, volunteer management, program and business development, and strategic planning. Prior to joining Burke Hospice, she served as the Director of Fund Development for Blue Ridge HealthCare Foundation, Morganton, NC.
Chasity completed her undergraduate studies from Western Carolina University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a double concentration in Marketing and Management.
Before joining Burke County United Way as the Executive Director, she served on the board of directors for the organization. Chasity volunteers with Burke County Meals-on-Wheels, Burke Hospice & Palliative Care and serves as an Ambassador/Diplomat with the Burke County Chamber of Commerce. In addition, she is a sustaining member of the Morganton Service League and has served as an executive officer for both, the Morganton Junior Womans Club and Morganton Service League.
Chasity is a proud to call Burke County home, and enjoys spending time with her two children, Olivia and Matthew in the great outdoors of western North Carolina.
Charles Conley, Manager of Operations
Charles joined Burke County United Way in November of 2012 with 41 years of experience in the business world, including 32 years in mortgage lending and 12 years as a volunteer with Burke County United Way. His business background includes 17 years as owner of Conley Mortgage in Morganton. His prior duties at Burke County United Way included Board Member, Treasurer, Budget & Allocations Chairman and Campaign Cabinet Member.
Charles earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC.
Charles is currently serving on the loan committee of Valdese Economic Development Investment Corp. He is also a member of Morganton Kiwanis Club. He previously has held positions as Treasurer of First United Methodist Church, Secretary and Board Member of the NC Association of Mortgage Professionals and Secretary of the Morganton Elks Lodge.
Charles has been a Morganton resident the majority of his life. He is proud to be a resident of such a wonderful place to live. He enjoys hiking in the Linville Gorge, bass fishing, yoga and cycling.
